Luzon power supply to remain stable amid looming strong El Nino
Manila, Sept. 9 -- The forecast extreme El Nino is not expected to severely affect power supply in Luzon as hydropower plants have benefited from the rains caused by the southwest monsoon or 'habagat'.
Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) vice president for trading operations Engr. Isidro Cacho, in an online briefing Wednesday, said electricity supply in Luzon is expected to remain stable since most hydropower plants are built on the island, given the major river systems and dams.
