Manila, April 15 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Wednesday announced the penalties meted out to several drivers involved in traffic violations that went viral on social media.
In a news release, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Marcus Lacanilao said the penalties were decided by the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) based on numerous show cause orders issued in February and March.
"Penalties include driver's license suspension, revocation, and disqualification, for violations such as road rage, reckless driving, hit-and-run, and other significant threats to public safety. Resolutions were also finalized for cases where respondents failed to appear at scheduled hearings," Lacanilao said.
