Manila, July 2 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday said its enforcers were acting in the lawful performance of their duties in response to a viral video of a confrontation with a Quezon City councilor and protestors.

In a statement, the LTO said the video showed two LTO enforcers whose actions were pursuant to the LTO's mandate "to enforce transportation laws and regulations and protect the riding public."

"Consistent with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the guidance of Department of Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez, LTO personnel are expected to carry out their duties with courtesy and respect at all times," it said.
