Manila, Sept. 14 -- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has summoned the operator of a passenger jeepney that crashed and tipped over in Sta. Cruz, Manila, killing a 65-year-old woman and injuring eight others.

In a statement on Monday, Acting LTFRB Chair Greg Pua Jr. said the agency will conduct a separate investigation into the operator's administrative liability and assured victims' families of insurance payments.

"We in the LTFRB extend our sincerest sympathies to the family of the deceased. We assure them that we will do everything in our power and within the bounds of law to ensure that justice is served," Pua said.
