Legazpi City assures readiness to respond if Mayon unrest escalates
LEGAZPI CITY, July 13 -- The city government assured residents that contingency measures are in place should unrest of Mayon Volcano escalate, saying that evacuation plans, response teams and shelters are ready for immediate implementation while Alert Level 3 remains in effect.
In an interview on Monday, Mayor Hisham Ismail said no evacuation has been ordered because residents within the 6-kilometer danger zone have been relocated, but the local government remains on standby for any change in the volcano's condition.
