Manila, June 11 -- Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro is set to sit down with Myanmar stakeholders, including ethnic groups, to discuss the situation in Myanmar ahead of a major gathering of Southeast Asian foreign ministers next month.

In a text message to reporters on Thursday, Foreign Affairs spokesperson for ASEAN Affairs Dax Imperial said the meeting "may happen in early July, ahead of the AMM-PMC (ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting-Post-Ministerial Conferences)."

Lazaro was earlier quoted as saying by Reuters that she intends to meet "certain ethnic armed groups to find out the situation and how we can really try to help."
