Manila, April 9 -- In line with the observance of Araw ng Kagitingan, SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Party-list Rep. Rolando Macasaet renewed his call for the immediate passage of House Bill (HB) 8379, granting additional benefits to active and retired members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

HB 8379 seeks to grant a 20 percent discount and exemption from value-added tax (VAT) on essential goods and services to qualified military and police personnel, similar to the privileges currently granted to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Macasaet said the measure recognizes not only the heroism of past generations but also the continuing sacrifices of today's uniformed personnel.
