LINGAYEN, July 23 -- The provincial government of La Union has established its West Philippine Sea Council and approved its West Philippine Sea Code of 2026 to institutionalize policies and programs of the province in relation to the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Board Member Eulogio Clarence Martin De Guzman III, in an interview on Thursday, said the council was created on March 31, 2025 with the enactment of Provincial Ordinance 477-2025, or the Creation of the West Philippine Sea Council in the Province of La Union, Defining its Composition, Duties and Function.
