MALASIQUI, June 11 -- Pangasinan's inflation rate is down to 5.6 percent in May from 7.4 percent in April and La Union from 7.5 percent in April to 6.3 percent in May, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Ilocos regional office.

PSA Pangasinan officer-in-charge Verna Palsimon, in a forum on Thursday, said among the main sources of deceleration are housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels commodity group.

The decline is also attributed to transport group, particularly with diesel products, she said.

In the same forum, PSA La Union Chief Statistical Specialist Danites Tenido said the main driver of decline in the inflation rate in La Union was the transport group, specifically gasoline and diesel.
