Manila, Oct. 29 -- The Department of Health (DOH) - Ilocos Region recorded 6,588 influenza-like illnesses from January 4 to October 10, 2026, which is 29 percent lower than the 9,282 cases recorded during the same period last year.

In a phone interview, DOH-Ilocos Region medical officer Dr. Rheuel Bobis attributed the decrease to massive information campaigns and an active anti-flu vaccination drive targeting vulnerable sectors.

He said flu vaccines are provided to senior citizens aged 60 and above through their local government units. However, limited vaccine supplies require prioritizing vulnerable populations.
