Manila, April 22 -- The Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) on Wednesday institutionalized heat safety protocols to prevent the impact of extreme heat index.

The council, during its regular session, passed the resolution authored by Councilor Alan Zaldivar after delivering a speech titled "Hawak Ko Ang Beat, Bato sa Heat."

Zaldivar said recent reports from the state weather bureau showed that this city has been experiencing dangerously high heat indices, reaching levels that pose serious risks to the health and well-being of the people.
