ILOILO CITY, July 27 -- The city has allocated PHP25 million from its local disaster risk reduction and management fund for the installation of solar energy systems in select sites.

Mayor Raisa Trenas said in an interview Monday the city government is looking into specific projects for installation of solar panels.

"The PHP25 million is already the budget allotted for our solar systems installation in the evacuation center, emergency operations center and government offices. That is our initiative for upgrading, for renewable, also we are looking into one of the initiatives for this (energy) crisis," she said.

She said some offices can save about 30 percent to 40 percent electricity charges from the installation of solar panels.
