Ilocos Norte to mark Marcos Day with festivities, cultural shows
Manila, Sept. 9 -- Ilocos Norte is expected to come alive with festivities as the 21 towns and two cities across the province observe Marcos Day on Sept. 11, a special non-working holiday honoring the legacy of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., whose birthplace and family hometown are in this city.
For many Ilocanos, the occasion is an opportunity to reflect on the province's place in Philippine history and its connection to one of the country's most consequential political figures.
Beyond the historical significance, the festivities, which run from Sept. 4 to 14, provide an opportunity to showcase the distinctive culture of Ilocos Norte.
