Manila, March 13 -- Israeli President Isaac Herzog has personally conveyed his condolences to the husband of Mary Ann de Vera, the Filipino caregiver killed by an Iranian missile strike.

Herzog received Bernie Lavarias at the Beit HaNassi (President's House) in Jerusalem on Thursday, and assured him that he would receive financial assistance, as well as a monthly stipend, under Israel's compensation program for war victims through the state's national insurance system.

"On behalf of the State of Israel, I send my deepest condolences to Mary Ann's family and the entire nation of the Philippines," Herzog said.
