Manila, July 13 -- The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) raised its funeral benefit from PHP30,000 to PHP50,000.

In a news release on Monday, the GSIS said the higher one-time assistance covers claims involving deaths occurring on or after July 13, 2026, giving families added support at a time when they are coping with both loss and immediate expenses.

"Every family deserves support and dignity when they lose someone they love," GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.

Veloso said the increase means the pension fund can stand beside members' families "at the exact moment they need us most."
