Manila, Sept. 2 -- The Marcos administration is proposing about PHP69.9 billion for three major rice programs in 2027 to boost local production, improve farmers' productivity and incomes, and keep the staple food affordable and accessible.

Under the 2027 National Expenditure Program, about PHP29.9 billion is earmarked for the National Rice Program, PHP30 billion for the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF), and PHP10 billion for the Rice for All Program.

In a statement Wednesday, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said the programs would support the rice value chain through seeds, farm inputs, machinery, irrigation, credit and training, while expanding access to affordable rice for consumers.
