Manila, April 10 -- The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on Friday cautioned government agencies against compromising gender equality initiatives as the country navigates a national energy emergency and mandatory austerity measures.

In its Advisory 2026-001, titled "Safeguarding Gender and Development (GAD) Implementation Amid Mandatory Austerity and the National Energy Emergency," the PCW underscored that while energy conservation is a priority, progress on women's empowerment must remain steady.

The commission called on agencies to adjust project modalities for greater energy efficiency without abandoning their GAD mandates.
