Manila, April 21 -- Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. has resigned as Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, Malacanang announced Tuesday.
In a text message, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed Galvez's decision to step down from his post. No reason was disclosed for his departure.
The Palace later announced that Galvez will be succeeded by Mel Senen Sarmiento, a secretary of the Interior and Local Government during the Noynoy Aquino administration.
Galvez was first appointed to the post in December 2018 under former president Rodrigo R. Duterte.
He continued serving in the same capacity under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., making him one of the few officials to hold the position across two administrations.
