Francisco weakens into typhoon, remains far from landmass
Manila, June 23 -- Tropical cyclone Francisco has weakened into typhoon category, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. bulletin Tuesday.
The typhoon packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometer per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 215 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
It was last tracked around 375 kilometers (km) east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or about 380 km east of Calayan, Cagayan, moving northwestward at 10 kph.
