Manila, Sept. 24 -- The transformation of a former child in conflict with the law (CICL) into a registered social worker demonstrates the potential of young people in rehabilitation when given opportunities and proper guidance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday.

DSWD Eastern Visayas Regional Director Grace Subong said in an interview that the achievement of John Mark Daradal, 25, shows how rehabilitation and access to education can help young people build a better future.

Daradal was admitted to the DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth in Tanauan, Leyte, at age 16 and spent more than four years at the facility before leaving in 2021.
