Floods submerge 5 villages in S. Kudarat, 500 families affected
COTABATO CITY, July 24 -- Five low-lying villages in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, are underwater due to continuous rainfall caused by Tropical Storm Kiyapo and the southwest monsoon (Habagat) on Thursday afternoon.
Lambayong Mayor Francis Eric Recinto identified the inundated villages as Pinguiaman, Tinumigues, Udtong, Caridad and Zeneben. The floodwaters submerged residential areas, roads and agricultural lands.
Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), together with partner response agencies such as the military, police, the Bureau of Fire, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, are on the ground attending to the needs of affected families.
