Manila, Sept. 23 -- Presiding officer Francis "Chiz" Escudero on Wednesday placed on record the impeachment court's procedural basis for reopening its voting-threshold ruling, saying the explanation could form part of any future challenge that Vice President Sara Duterte may bring before the Supreme Court.

Before the court proceeded further, Escudero addressed the defense's contention that the period for questioning his July 6 ruling on the conviction threshold had already lapsed.

"This is in order to give the court's view on the matter, and so that should any of the parties... wish to bring it up, the picture would be complete," Escudero said.
