Manila, March 16 -- Amid reports that two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were arrested for allegedly filming missile attacks, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Monday assured that legal assistance is being accorded to them.
In a statement, the embassy said it immediately contacted UAE authorities to verify the circumstances and whereabouts of the two OFWs.
"Legal assistance is being extended to the arrested individuals through the Embassy's retained legal counsel," it added.
A request was submitted to the UAE authorities for a consular visit to the arrested nationals, subject to approval.
