Manila, Feb. 24 -- The prevailing easterlies will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over several areas in the country, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi are forecast to get drenched with moderate to heavy rains that could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will get isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned.
