Manila, Feb. 23 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its field office in Negros Island Region (NIR), has disbursed over PHP119 million in emergency cash transfer (ECT) to 18,829 Typhoon Tino-affected families in Isabela town and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.

Beneficiaries in the two Negros Occidental areas simultaneously received cash assistance under the DSWD's ECT program on Saturday and Sunday.

The ECT payout is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to ensure that disaster-affected families receive timely aid to help them recover from losses caused by the weather disturbance.
