DSWD delivers P2.2-M aid to quake-hit families in Zamboanga Peninsula
ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 10 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) has provided assistance totaling about PHP2.2 million to families affected by Monday's earthquake throughout the region.
The agency said at least 2,878 families, comprising 9,231 individuals, in the region were affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao.
"Distribution activities are set to continue in some more affected barangays to reach more families impacted by the earthquake," the DSWD-9 said in a statement on Wednesday.
DSWD-9 has so far delivered 2,318 ready-to-eat food packs, 140 sleeping kits, 200 jerry cans, hygiene kits, and family kits to families residing in the region's coastal areas.
