Manila, Oct. 23 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), employers, workers' representatives and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) have met to discuss guidelines to protect workers from extreme heat amid the expected effects of El Nino.

In a news release Thursday, DOLE said Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino met with the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), PAGASA, public sector union representatives from PSLINK and construction companies to discuss upcoming labor advisories aimed at safeguarding workers.
