MANILA, June 3 -- Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson Polo Martinez on Wednesday said the department will proceed with its own investigation into the Senate's shooting incident and alleged escape of Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, despite probes to be conducted by other government agencies

"The fact-finding investigation being conducted by the DOJ panel of prosecutors into the events that transpired at the Senate from May 11 to 14, 2026, will proceed independently of any investigation or proceeding before another agency," Martinez said in a message to reporters.

He said the panel of prosecutors remains open to receiving any evidence "that may assist in its investigation."
