Manila, April 24 -- The Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) is intensifying preventive healthcare by promoting water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) alongside routine immunization to reduce disease risks.
Data from the 2025 Field Health Services Information System show 96.46 percent, or 1,133,097, of 1,379,701 households in Bicol now have access to basic water supply, a milestone seen to cut vulnerability to waterborne diseases.
DOH-5 said sustaining proper hygiene and sanitation remains critical to maximize these gains.
Under the WASH program, the agency provides logistics, technical support, and advocacy to improve waste disposal, hygiene practices, and access to safe drinking water.
