Dizon orders redesign of inlets along major roads in Metro Manila
Manila, Aug. 19 -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday ordered the redesign of inlets in major roads in Metro Manila to alleviate flooding in the region.
During his visit to the Remedios Pumping Station in Manila, he said they intend to widen the inlets to allow floodwaters to flow more freely and subside more quickly.
"We will start with national roads, Roxas Blvd., EDSA, C-5, Taft Avenue, Espana, Quezon Avenue, Commonwealth, all major roads, and we will begin in flood-prone areas, where inlets are small, and the flow of water is slow. Slowly, we will fix this, I think the solutions are there. It really needs to be done right," he said in an interview.
