Manila, Aug. 17 -- The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is adopting a volunteer-driven, community-based framework as the country's official strategy for educating the public against scams.

In a statement on Monday, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the Scam Watch Pilipinas Anti-Scam Quad Model will become the national anti-scam education and awareness strategy, providing government agencies and communities with a common playbook for scam prevention.

Aguda said the framework, developed through public-private collaboration, comes at no cost to the government.

"Why reinvent the wheel? Let's adopt it. If the program works, why shouldn't we use it?" he said.
