ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 16 -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources regional office in Zamboanga Peninsula (DENR-9) has donated more than 7,000 board feet of lumber and provided cash aid to quake-affected communities in Sarangani province, repurposing confiscated timber into shelter and hope for earthquake victims.

In a statement Thursday, DENR-9 Executive Director Marie Angeligue Go, said a total of 7,518.75 board feet of lumber were shipped to Sarangani for use by quake victims in reconstructing their homes.

The shipment was completed on Thursday because the donated lumber was shipped in two batches, as DENR-9 was only able to borrow one unit to transport the repurposed timber.
