Manila, July 29 -- The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Tuesday said it wouls double the creation of new teaching positions in 2026 to address the persistent shortage of educators in public schools.

In a post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) briefing, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the government has created a total of 60,000 new teaching positions and some 5,000 non-teaching posts to relieve teachers of their administrative work.
