Manila, April 14 -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) is eyeing the implementation of Minimum Access Volume (MAV) Plus on imported corn and pork amid the energy emergency in the country.
This comes after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the agency to impose lowered tariffs on select commodities to ensure stable prices of food despite the effects of global oil price surges.
MAV, an import system for commodities' entry, sets the tariff for imported pork at 15 percent, much lower than the 25 percent tariff rate outside MAV; and a 5 percent in-quota tariff and a 15 percent out-quota tariff for corn.
