Manila, Aug. 24 -- To prevent harvest spoilage and dropping farmgate prices, the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Monday said it is enhancing its alerts and early warning system for the agriculture sector.

Under the DA's Agricultural Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), the mechanism may help project possible supply disruptions and allow proper market linkage between local farmers and buyers ahead of time.

In a statement, DA Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) Head and Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing, and Consumer Affairs Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra said the strategy will provide the government with a clearer outlook.
