Manila, April 15 -- The modernized fish ports will help boost economic opportunities in Surigao City, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. made the remark as he led the inspection of modernization projects in the two major ports in the city under the two-phased Surigao City Fish Port development.
In a statement, Tiu Laurel said the modernization of fisheries infrastructure will directly benefit both producers and consumers.
"Investments in proper handling, storage, and support facilities will strengthen the fisheries value chain and generate more economic opportunities," he said.
