Manila, July 17 -- The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported that coronavirus disease 2109 (Covid-19) cases in the country remain low, tallying a 70 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

In a statement, the DOH cited that a total of 1,532 confirmed cases were recorded from Jan. 4 to July 11, 2026.

The figure is significantly lower than the 5,070 cases documented during the exact same timeframe in 2025, it noted.

Despite the downward trend, the DOH assured that it "continues to closely monitor the situation through its regional offices and local government partners and maintains disease surveillance and response mechanisms nationwide."
