Manila, May 4 -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday confirmed that a court has allowed former broadcaster Jay Sonza to post bail for his temporary liberty over allegations that he spread false medical information about President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 118 ordered the release of Sonza from the NBI Detention Facility at the New Bilibid Prisons Compound in Muntinlupa City upon payment of a PHP10,000 cash bond.
The NBI arrested Sonza in Quezon City last Thursday on charges of unlawful means of publication under the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Pasay RTC Judge Rowena Nievesa-Tan also set Sonza's arraignment and pre-trial on June 3.
