BAGUIO CITY, July 14 -- Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Monday urged residents to remain vigilant as persistent rains continue to saturate the ground, increasing the risk of landslides, soil erosion and falling trees.

"We will be experiencing more rains this week. Please keep yourself warm and always bring a raincoat or umbrella because rain is expected daily, especially in the afternoon. Clean your surroundings to prevent drainage systems from being clogged," Magalong said in a media interview.

The mayor said he inspected parts of the city on Sunday and observed pine needles and garbage clogging road gutters.

He urged residents to clean their frontages and nearby areas to keep waste from blocking drainage systems.
