Comelec, security, energy sectors coordinate for brownout-free BPE
Manila, Sept. 11 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is coordinating with the security and energy sectors to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the first-ever Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) on Monday.
"We have coordinated with the security and energy sectors to ensure there will be no power outages on Election Day, although our machines can operate for three days even without electricity," Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said in a radio interview Friday.
He was referring to the automated counting machines (ACMs) to be used for the BPE. Each machine has standby batteries that could last several days.
