Combined infra, agri damage due to 'habagat,' cyclones nears P11-B
Manila, Sept. 3 -- Combined damage on infrastructure and agriculture caused by the effects of recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon (habagat) already hit nearly PHP10.8 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday.
Latest NDRRMC data show that agriculture damage was estimated to be around PHP3 billion, incurred in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.
It said an estimated 67,688.27 hectares of crop area were affected by the adverse weather, with around 20,125.46 hectares classified as "with no chance of recovery" while about 47,562.81 with a "partial chance of recovery".
