Manila, April 7 -- Health authorities in Negros Occidental on Tuesday warned the public against eating a type of tuna locally known as "aloy" and "tulingan" after some residents of Cadiz City who consumed the fish were treated for allergic reactions.
"The City Health Office (CHO) of Cadiz urges the public to temporarily avoid consuming 'aloy' and 'tulingan'. Let us all stay vigilant and prioritize our health and safety," it said in a public health advisory.
More than 40 people in the northern Negros city experienced symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, fever-like conditions, swelling, difficulty breathing, and other related reactions.
