Manila, June 11 -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Thursday that the General Santos Airport is closed for commercial operations until 6 p.m. of June 14.

CAAP has only permitted government, military and humanitarian flights at the airport, following the magnitude 7.8 offshore Sarangani earthquake that jolted parts of Mindanao last June 8.

"Barring any unforeseen events, commercial operations will commence on Monday, June 15," CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio told the Philippine News Agency.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), in an advisory, has announced the cancellation of all its General Santos flights from June 11-14 due to the temporary closure of the airport.
