Bulacan declares state of calamity due to widespread flooding
Manila, Aug. 21 -- The entire province of Bulacan has been formally placed under a state of calamity Thursday following recent widespread flooding and damages brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay.
The move was taken after the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, assessed the extent of flood damage, damage to agriculture and infrastructure and the number of residents affected.
According to Fernando, the declaration was approved through Resolution No. 708-T'2026 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan during its special session via Zoom teleconference.
