Manila, Sept. 1 -- Col. Manaros Boransing II on Tuesday said he learned only during an October 2024 House inquiry that the Department of Education (DepEd) had attached his Philippine Army certification to an audit response involving PHP15.54 million in reported confidential-fund rewards.

He had signed the certification nine months earlier, and while he stood by the Army activities it recorded, he said he had no prior idea that it would be used by the DepEd and had not even read the Commission on Audit (COA) record.

Boransing gave the testimony during direct examination by private prosecutor Reynaldo Robles on Day 20 of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.
