Manila, Sept. 16 -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is ramping up efforts to combat the proliferation of illicit vape and tobacco products ahead of the Christmas season.

"We are receiving intelligence and market information on the increased risk of illicit vape and tobacco products entering the market as holiday demand picks up. Our enforcement teams are already on high alert," Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said in a statement Wednesday.

"There will be no holiday for enforcement against illicit vape and tobacco."

Regional and enforcement offices have been directed to intensify monitoring of suspected production sites, warehouses, distribution channels, and retail outlets, and to coordinate operations where necessary.
