Manila, Sept. 22 -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has so far received more than 6,000 applications under its one-time abatement program for micro taxpayers.

In a news release Tuesday, BIR said that as of Sept. 18, a total of 1,352 micro taxpayers filed 6,234 applications, of which 5,000 have been approved.

The approved applications covered PHP84.5 million in tax liabilities and penalties, while PHP24.81 million in abatement fees have been paid.

BIR Revenue Regulations No. 4-2026 issued in June prescribes the guidelines and procedures for the availment of a one-time abatement of taxes/or penalties for qualified micro taxpayers with delinquent accounts, assessments and open-stop filer cases.
