Manila, April 24 -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Bicol has begun implementing post-harvest interventions, in coordination with local government units (LGUs) and the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), to address the persistent fish oversupply in Bulan, Sorsogon.
BFAR Regional Director Ariel Pioquinto on Friday said efforts are focused on improving fish handling and storage systems, including the operation of an ice plant in the area.
"We are coordinating with the LGUs and the PFDA. In fact, there is already a 50-ton capacity ice plant in the area," Pioquinto said in an interview.
