Manila, Oct. 9 -- Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Fredderick Vida on Thursday thanked Congress for ratifying the Batang Ligtas Act, saying it will strengthen the government's campaign to protect Filipino children from online abuse and exploitation.

Vida, chair of the National Coordination Center Against Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (NCC-OSAEC-CSAEM), said the decision of both the Senate and the House of Representatives to act with urgency on the proposed measure was timely amid the growing and evolving threats faced by children in the digital environment.
