Manila, Sept. 24 -- The number of underweight children in Baguio City declined slightly this year as the local government strengthens nutrition interventions focused on the first 1,000 days of a child's life.

City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes said the latest "Oplan Timbang Plus" (OPT+) assessment recorded 645 underweight children in 2026, down from 653 in 2025.

The findings were presented during the recent meeting of the Baguio City Nutrition Committee (BCNC).
